Earlier in 2012, Centerra acquired 50% interest in the property by investing $5m in drilling, geological mapping, geochemical sampling, and geophysical surveys. The acquisition was part of an agreement signed with a subsidiary of Centerra to provide up to 70%stake as part of a joint venture arrangement.
In June this year, however, EMX began negotiations with Centerra to reacquire the stake.
The Akarca project includes six gold-silver mineralized centers. As many as 81 holes have been drilled at the property.
