The launch of charge point to be located in Sandyford Business Park on Carmanhall Road is part of ESB ecar’s plan to build EV charging infrastructure nationwide to meet the government target for 10% of the Irish motoring fleet to be electric by 2020.

Public EV charging infrastructure is progressing with charge points being installed in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford and Cavan, while commercial charge points and home charge points are also set up nationwide to help meet EU targets to reduce carbon emissions by 2020.

ESB director of sustainability John Campion said that the launch of the first charge point in the Sandyford Business Park highlights Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s leading role and support for sustainability objectives within the business community.

"The addition of an electric vehicle to their fleet highlights the significant efforts being made by the County Council towards achieving the national targets for the introduction of electric cars," Campion said.
