The solar facility is expected to produce more than 150GWh per year of clean electricity, to power around 48,000 households.

South African utility Eskom will purchase the power generated at Pulida, under a 20-year power supply agreement with EGP signed in 2013.

As part of the third phase of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP) tender process, the company was selected to construct 111MW Gibson Bay and 88MW Nojoli wind farms.

EGP will also build solar projects, including the 82.5MW Aurora, 82.5MW Paleisheweul and 66MW Tom Burke facilities.

The South African Government intends to develop 8,400MW solar PV energy by 2030.

The fourth phase of the REIPPPP has recently awarded a contract to EGP to develop 425MW wind power projects in the country.
