eMeter SmartStart provides accelerated implementation of pre-configured versions of eMeter’s EnergyIP meter data management (MDM) system and Energy Engage consumer engagement software, the company said.

With SmartStart, utilities can implement eMeter solutions within 12 weeks and have access to an integrated and operational system for user acceptance testing in six to eight weeks.

Furthermore, the architecture of the eMeter platform allows utilities to add capabilities and integrate the technologies to capitalize on new business opportunities and respond to regulatory change, said the company.

SmartStart provides utilities with a set of meter-to-cash features including real-time data validation estimation and editing (VEE), time-of-use billing support, and real-time synchronization of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and utility information systems.

Beyond meter-to-cash, the SmartStart offering includes Energy Engage to present consumers with views of their hourly energy usage and cost-to-date, which enables conservation, demand management and enhances the relationship utilities have with their customers, the company said.

Cree Edwards, CEO of eMeter, said: “Our mission is to provide the best platform to meet the needs of today’s utilities and lay the right foundation for future success. SmartStart is eMeter’s innovative leap forward to accelerate deployment in a cost-effective and straightforward way.

“The approach, based on our proven best practices, equips utilities with the required flexibility to enable scaling, future functionality and adaptation to regulatory and technological change. No matter what happens our customers have complete system independence–that’s the eMeter commitment.”
