The V200/V210 meter, which will have a polymer body, would be about half the weight of an equivalent brass bodied meter and low carbon footprint.
The company said the meter would be suitable for varied installations, including land that could be contaminated.
In addition, Elster noted that over 98% of the V200/V210 polymer meter can be recycled into grade three plastic products.
The new polymer meter, developed to comply with the latest EU and other regional standards, is automated meter reading (AMR) compatible.
Elster also plans to display its most advanced intelligent AMR/AMI metering solutions at the international exhibition which will be held between 27 – 30 November in Lyon, France.
