The run-of-river project is being developed by a joint venture of Eletrosul and the consortium of Engevix and Galvao, called Consortium Sao Domingos.

Under construction almost 270km from the state capital, Campo Grande, at the confluence of the Verde and Sao Domingos rivers, the plant is to have an assured power of 36.9MW to generate 323.25GWh of electricity per year. Its reservoir will be used to maintain head difference, not be drawn down.

The project is to cost about R$290M (US$155M) and is due to be commissioned in 2012.
