Located in the Eastern Cape Province, the Nojoli plant will generate over 275 GWh of energy per year for about 86,000 homes in South Africa.
The wind farm will reduce over 251,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The project’s output will be sold to utility Eskom through a 20-year power supply agreement awarded under the third round of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
In the same tender, EGP was awarded the right to construct the 111MW Gibson Bay wind farm and the 82.5MW Aurora, 82.5MW Paleisheweul, 82.5MW Pulida and 66MW Tom Burke photovoltaic projects.
EGP has recently won a further 425MW of wind power projects in the fourth phase of the REIPPPP.
The wind projects, including 142MW Oyster Bay, 141MW Nxuba and 142MW Karusa, will require a total investment of about €500m.
The Oyster Bay and Nxuba projects are expected to become operational in 2017, while Karusa will be online in 2018.
EGP has an installed capacity of about 9,600MW from a mix of sources, including wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass. The company has around 740 plants operating in 15 countries.
