The modules provided by First Solar will be used to build primarily ground-based photovoltaic (PV) plants in Europe and especially in France.
This additional order is said to be consistent with EDF Energies Nouvelles’s policy of securing its supply of PV panels for the future. The company has already secured 430MWp of panels for the 2007-12 period.
The latest deal is intended to cover the acceleration of EDF Energies Nouvelles’s expansion in solar energy. The company aims to build PV power plants totaling 400MWp for its own account and for third parties by 2011.
