The conventional method of producing frac fluid was to take pond water mixed with the chemicals and other elements. The chemicals were added to remove aerobic and anaerobic bacteria from the dirty water. The problem was that the chemicals, additionally being expensive, produced problems down hole, incorporating scaling and corrosion, which damaged well productivity.

Patrick Haskell, chief executive officer of Ecosphere said: This is an exciting new product that we believe will assist energy companies in fracturing natural gas wells and reduce the amount of chemicals they are currently using. The EcosFrac Tank Processing System and Ecosphere Ozonix Systems allow us to offer our customers a ‘Total Frac Water Management Process’ for their hydraulic fracturing and flowback waters.
