Ecopetrol and Petrobras Colombia have added Repsol Exploracion Colombia as an additional partner for exploration of the Tayrona block, located off Colombia's Caribbean coast.
The block is covered by a hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation contract signed with Colombia’s National Agency of Hydrocarbons in mid-2004.
Petrobras will continue as the operator of the block with a 40% interest, while Repsol and Ecopetrol will each hold a 30% interest in the block.
The block, which has an area of about 1,657,900 hectares, comprises a part of the projects under way off Colombia’s Caribbean coast, where Ecopetrol is moving forward with exploration activities with other partners.
