PacifiCorp has awarded this multi-year engineer, procure and construct contract for the construction of the power line, a key section of the firm’s Energy Gateway transmission investment.

About 169-mile long Sigurd to Red Butte segment comprises a new single circuit 345kV power line from the Sigurd substation in Sevier County to the Red Butte substation in Washington County.

Under the latest contract, EC Source will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the transmission project. Construction of the Sigurd to Red Butte power line is expected to start in 2013.

Engineering and procurement activities are schedule to begin next month with construction starting in April 2013.

Once completed in 2015, the transmission line will deliver additional power to retail customers of PacifiCorp as well as Rocky Mountain Power and Pacific Power.

PacifiCorp senior vice president Natalie Hocken said, "This segment, and our overall Energy Gateway transmission investment, is a fundamental part of PacifiCorp’s plans to ensure long-term supply of reliable and affordable energy to meet the growing needs of our existing and future customers."
