E.ON's UK arm is to sponsor the world's first center for kick-starting sustainable energy businesses.

E.ON UK will fund the pioneering energy research center, LIFE, and its ‘incubator program’ which helps companies to develop and commercialize new energy sources to help combat climate change.

LIFE offers developers and researchers technical and commercial support and access to funding to get ideas from the drawing board and into people’s homes and businesses.

The deal is the first key sponsorship for the South Yorkshire-based LIFE center (LIFE means the large scale innovation for energy) which has already helped develop renewable energy businesses worth millions of pounds.

Dave Clarke, from E.ON UK said: The LIFE sponsorship is part of our commitment to support low carbon technologies with the potential to contribute to a cleaner and more energy-efficient future.

Bringing innovations into the fast-moving energy marketplace requires a blend of skills and resources and E.ON UK is helping provide a sound basis from which the most promising ideas can move forward.
