The Moss Landing station located close to Salinas, in Monterey County, roughly 90 miles south of San Francisco can generate 2,498 MW.

The power station contains combined-cycle units 1 and 2 that started service in 2002 with 510 MW capacity and units 6 and 7 with 739 MW power generating capacity that entered service in 1967 and 1968 respectively. Each of the 510 MW combined cycle units consist of one 180 MW steam turbine and two 165 MW gas turbines.
