Duke Energy has completed its fourth wind farm in Wyoming, a 200MW facility near Casper in Converse County.

The Top of the World wind farm, which is now on line and producing clean, renewable electricity, consists of 110 wind turbines, capable of generating enough power to supply about 60,000 homes.

The wind farm supplies wind energy to PacifiCorp under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Duke Energy has 935MW of wind power in commercial operation that will rise to nearly 1,000MW later this year when the 51MW Kit Carson Windpower Project in eastern Colorado comes on line.

In total, Duke Energy has committed more than $1bn since 2007 to build its wind power business.

Duke Energy’s Commercial Businesses group executive and president Keith Trent said that developing renewables projects under our low-risk business model will continue to be an important part of our company’s future.
