DFEM said the generator has highest per-unit installed capacity among the nuclear generators in the world.

The Taishan nuclear power project, located in south China’s Guangdong province, is being developed by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Company (CGNPC) and Electricite de France.

So far, DFEM has produced 14 nuclear generators with a total installed capacity of 15,790MW.

CGNPC said the total investment for the Phase 1 of the Taishan nuclear power project stood at CNY50.2bn and may include the construction of two units using the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) technology, with each unit capacity up to 1,750MW.

According to CGNPC, Units 1 and 2 are scheduled to be put into operation in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

After the two units are built, together they will add about 26 billion kWh of electricity to the grid annually.
