DHL Express has launched 100 pickup and delivery vans fueled by propane autogas expected to be on road by August 2012.

The Ford E-250 cargo vans will each be equipped ROUSH CleanTech liquid propane autogas fuel systems.

Commenting on the initiative DHL Express US CEO Ian Clough said that customers expect green logistics and sustainable business models.

The propane autogas vehicles are expected to save 22,587 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per annum.

"Initiatives like our all ‘green’ fleet in Manhattan and this propane autogas fleet not only lower our DHL carbon footprint, but are a smart, clean and cost-effective choice for our business," added Clough.

The express deliver services provider currently has green delivery initiatives in Ohio, Tennessee and Louisiana.

ROUSH CleanTech president Joe Thompson said, "At ROUSH CleanTech, we are committed to new technologies that help businesses meet economic and sustainability goals using safe and domestically produced energy sources."
