Design services for the Olivenhain dam will be provided by a team comprising Harza Engineering and Parsons Engineering Science, under a contract signed recently.

The US$107M dam is the first RCC design to be built in California, and is part of a 12 year, US$170M project that will provide emergency water storage for the San Diego County Water Authority.

In other phases of the project: •In phase two a pipeline will connect the reservoir to the Second San Diego Aqueduct and a pumping station built at the San Vicente reservoir.

•In phase three a pipeline or tunnel will connect Lake Hodges to the Second San Diego Aqueduct, and pump stations will be built at Lake Hodges and along the First and Second San Diego Aqueducts.
