Bidders for the power plant privatization includes Demir Madencilik, Elsan Elektrik, Alsim Alarko, Limak and IC Içtas.

Reuters cited Demir Madencilik CEO Salih Demir as saying, "The bid [we] offered in the tender was far higher than our and other companies’ expectations, but we have done preparatory research and think there will not be any problem in obtaining credit and providing 20 percent equity."

Currently owned by the Electricity Generation Holding Company (EÜAS), the plant has an installed capacity of 300MW and currently meets 1.5% of electricity demand for Turkey.

The tender scope included the privatization of immovables utilized by the TPP and excluded the mining sites that supplies coal to the plant.
