A 63 MWe windfarm is under construction in Dabancheng, close to Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Province in northwest China. The wind field is located in the Tianshan mountains; it is 80 km long and 20 km wide. The potential wind capacity from the site has been estimated to be 2500 MWe.
