Reports from Prague suggest that RWE's Transgas arm has been found guilty of abusing its dominant market position in Czech gas in 2005.

The CTK news agency cites a report in the daily newspaper Mlada fronta Dnes saying that the Czech energy regulator UOHS will order RWE Transgas to alter the way it gives contracts to clients.

One issue apparently raised by UOHS centers on regional gas distributors being prevented from serving customers outside their home region under the terms of their contracts.

The newspaper report suggested that RWE could face fines of up to CZK80 million as a result of the probe, the paper said. RWE will receive formal notification of the verdict on March 6, 2006.
