Australia-based CS Energy has appointed David Brown as its new chief executive officer.

Mr Brown started his career with British Gas before joining Southern Electric. In Australia he has worked as a consultant to the power industry and later as general manager of Bell Bay Power, a Hydro Tasmania subsidiary company.

Stephen Lonie, chairman of CS Energy, said that Mr Brown was taking up the position at a challenging time for the power industry.

Mr Lonie said: It’s also a challenging time for CS Energy as we balance reducing our greenhouse footprint, continuing our growth strategy and improving our operational performance. We’ve made strong progress in these areas through the Callide Oxyfuel project, the recent opening of Kogan Creek Power Station and reducing water use at Swanbank Power Station.

But there is much more to achieve and I look forward to working with David on these and other priorities.
