Consumers Energy has selected White Construction, a wind park builder, to provide the balance of plant engineering, procurement and construction services for the project that will source the majority of construction jobs and material purchases from within Michigan.

The other contract is with GE-Prolec Transformers to obtain electric transformers for a new substation that will serve the Lake Winds Energy Park, in line Consumers Energy’s 20-year plan to meet the power needs of its 1.8 million electric customers with renewable energy.

The contracts for the Lake Winds Energy Park, which requires a special land use permit from Mason County, were bid and are contingent upon approval by the Michigan Public Service Commission.

Consumers Energy manager of renewable energy projects Linda Hilbert said that the company is pleased to move forward with the Lake Winds Energy Park by reaching agreements with these two companies.
