A consortium consisting of Cosapi (Peru), Skanska (Sweden) and Chizaki (Japan) won the civil construction contract of the Yuncan power plant for US$117M, about US$23M lower than the price estimated by the Peruvian government for the Yuncan civil works. The power plant is expected to be ready for commissioning by April 2002.

The 130MW Yuncan project is being developed by Egecen (Empresa de Generacion de Energia Electrica del Centro), including the construction of a 40km transmission line between the plant and the central-northern grid.
