Electricity utility Constellation Energy has signed an agreement with the Clinton Climate Initiative to jointly pursue opportunities to lower harmful emissions and improve energy efficiency.

Constellation Energy noted that, under the C40 Large Building Retrofit program of the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), participating cities prequalify a pool of energy service companies that can respond to request for proposals (RFP) for energy efficiency projects at large municipal buildings.

Companies selected for projects will conduct energy audits, design and implement an energy retrofit plan, oversee site work and provide performance guarantees on energy usage and savings.

Former US president Bill Clinton’s foundation launched CCI in August 2006, with the mission of applying the Clinton Foundation’s business-oriented approach to address the issue of climate change in practical, measurable and significant ways.

Paul Allen, chief environmental officer and senior vice president of Constellation Energy, said: We look forward to pursuing qualified projects with CCI and demonstrating how the latest innovation in energy products and services can drive measurable and meaningful environmental and economic results.
