ACONSORTIUM LED BY Malaysia’s United Engineers (UEM) is reconsidering its participation in the Bakun dam. The company says that projects already in hand would put a strain on its resources.

According to UEM executive director, Datuk Dr Ramli Mohamad, having pre-qualified to bid for the main civil works project in Sarawak, the consortium is seriously contemplating if it wants to proceed given the competitive nature of the tenders.

Furthermore, he said, UEM had a US$789.4M order book to keep it busy for 30 months and its resources were beginning to look stretched.
