Community Energy Solar and Exelon Generation have closed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 6MW solar project located in the US state of Pennsylvania.

Under the agreement, Exelon will buy the power and renewable energy credits from a 6MW solar project that Community Energy is building in Lancaster County.

The deal will support the construction of the proposed energy facility, consisting of about 25,000 solar panels installed on approximately 30 acres.

The power project is expected to generate approximately 7.5 million kWh of electricity per year or enough power to meet the needs of approximately 1,000 homes.

The company said it worked with the Lancaster County farming community and East Drumore Township officials to design the project to support both clean energy production and agricultural land restoration, including selected cover vegetation, minimal use of concrete and decommissioning at the end of the 25 to 30-year project life.

Community Energy is engaged in developing utility-scale solar projects nationally with offices in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
