Finland-based multi-discipline engineering and information management services provider Citec has acquired the oil and gas engineering consultancy firm Akilea Engineering.

The France-based Akilea designs offshore platforms, oil refineries, pipelines and power plants and offers services, including engineering, procurement, construction and project management.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Citec CEO Martin Strand said following the acquisition, the company’s expertise and offering within the oil and gas industry has strengthened.

"Oil & gas – and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – are important focus areas in Citec’s growth strategy," Strand added.

This is a very concrete and swift enhancement of our wide offering for the energy industry. Akilea also reinforces Citec’s French operations and increases the critical mass in the local market."

Akilea with a turnover of about EUR5m employs 50 professionals and has a customer base consisting of international companies such as Technip, Saipem, Foster Wheeler, Jacobs, Total France, EDF, and Alstom.
