CAAS, which has been supplying its hydraulic power steering units to Changan for the past two years, secured the contract following the completion of Changan’s trial order validating the EPS units’ road test performance and quality standard.
CAAS has now begun commercial shipments of the EPS units to Changan. The company, which made its first shipments of EPS to Suzuki in September 2009, expects the purchase order to help establish a strong foothold in the EV market.
With growing interest in automotive fuel efficiency, Jielong hopes for its electric steering systems to attract greater attention from OEMs and consumers in the future.
