SPX Service Solutions, a company that develops and markets service tools and technical information for vehicle servicing and maintenance, has secured a contract from Chevrolet to provide electric vehicles home charging installation services to owners of the new Chevrolet Volt.

Under this contract, SPX Service Solutions will provide equipments and installation services to Volt owners, Chevrolet dealers and fleet customers to charge their plug-in electric vehicles.

The contract requires SPX EV team to manage all aspects of home charging, including home surveys, 240V charge stations installations that will charge Volt in approximately 4 hours, permitting, utility coordination, post installation services and advising customers on special programs and incentives.

SPX has secured the contract following the completion of consumer home charger trials in support of Chevrolet’s field-testing of the Volt, wherein SPX demonstrated the viability of its experience and infrastructure to coordinate and complete home charger installations from start to finish.

SPX chairman, president and CEO Christopher Kearney said that SPX Service Solutions’ dedicated electric vehicle team has worked closely with Chevrolet to ensure the successful deployment and rollout of the revolutionary new Volt.

“SPX is proud to be Chevrolet’s national partner in supporting the launch of the Chevrolet Volt, positioned to leverage its nearly 100 years of automotive industry experience to provide Volt owners with a streamlined program for installing their home charging equipment,” Kearney said.
