CGGVeritas, a provider of geophysical services and products, has increased its data library coverage in the South Flores area by acquiring a new non-exclusive 2D survey in the waters of the Savu Sea.

The new survey is approximately 3,000 kilometers and has been completed by the CGGVeritas Duke seismic acquisition vessel. Final products will be completed in January 2008.

The new survey has been acquired to infill key areas of data that are currently available, targeting sections identified from the existing seismic data. Acquisition has also been specifically designed to enhance the imaging of the deeper areas.

The survey location is between the islands of Savu, Rote and Sumba and highlights prospective triassic plays and hydrocarbon systems, the company said.

David Lamb, vice president of the company’s data library division for Asia Pacific, said: This area is expected to be one of high interest during forthcoming license rounds in the region and CGGVeritas has taken the initiative to provide an important new tool for unlocking the Savu Sea’s hydrocarbon potential.
