Czech power firm CEZ's spending spree in central Europe continues apace with the closure of a deal to acquire majority stakes in two Polish power plants for a total of E383 million.

<p>CEZ has bought the controlling interest in the Elcho and Skawina plants from the US group PSEG Global. <br /><br />We have already succeeded in south-east Europe and are glad to be successful also in Poland which is a strategic market in the central European region for CEZ. Elcho and Skawina, moreover, are a spring board to further acquisitions in Poland for us, CEZ CEO Martin Roman was quoted as saying by the CTK news agency.<br /><br />The two sites are located in a fast developing region of Poland, CEZ added, and are close to other power plants operated by CEZ.</p>
