Canadian Solar will be responsible for the construction of the solar PV project. The firm will also supply the solar photovoltaic modules from its local factory in Brazil.
In the second Reserve Energy Auction, the Guimarania project has secured a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for $91.77 per MWh.
The solar plant will generate around 143,664 MWh every year after it gets connected to the grid. The Electrical Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE) will purchase the energy produced from the plant.
The construction of the solar plant will commence in early 2018 and will start its commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2018.

We will continue to evaluate additional opportunities in this important emerging market so as to accelerate the adoption of the affordable, reliable and clean solar energy across the country."
In May 2017, Canadian Solar has secured an order to deliver 268MW of double-glass Dymond modules for the first phase of the 800MW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (DEWA Project) in Dubai.
Canadian Solar claims that the Dymond modules use heat-treated glass unlike the traditional polymer backsheet and the module does not have a metal frame, hence it requires no grounding.

The firm, which has geographically diversified pipeline of utility-scale power projects, has supplied more than 22GW of high quality modules to over 100 countries.
