As per the terms of the agreement, the companies will jointly develop the solar installations that will have a total installed capacity of 85MW.

First of the project expected to be commissioned is a 6.4MW Fuquay Farm in Wake County by the end of February 2013.

Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive officer Shawn Qu said that the collaboration aims at expanding solar power generation in North Carolina.

"Fuquay Farm is the first of many, and we look forward to working closely with Strata Solar to generate clean energy for the residents of North Carolina," said Qu.

The portfolio of projects primarily consists of 6MW utility scale solar energy farms and will also include a 1MW rooftop solar system and a 3MW farm.

Construction of these projects is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013.
