The Fluid Machinery Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) has released a call for papers for the 6th International Symposium on Hydropower Developments: New Project, Rehabilitation and Power Recovery to be held on 14 November 2006 in London, UK.

The event has been developed to provide a forum for review of rehabilitation and new hydro power activities, recently and currently, being carried out by hydro power companies for both UK and overseas projects.

Papers are invited on the following topics:

Current projects: Description, specification and performance of hydroelectric generating plant.

Rehabilitation: Approach and scope of rehabilitation, implementation of rehabilitation, design improvements and upgrading case studies.

Power recovery: Description, specification and performance of power recovery plant.

Synopses of up to 250 words should be sent to Amelia Brunt at the contact details below no later than 25 August 2006. Selected authors will be asked to submit papers of up to 4000 words in length with relevant supporting illustrations by 27 October 2006.

The seminar papers will be written and presented in English. The author of each accepted paper will be expected to attend the seminar to present their work. Presenting authors will be entitled to complimentary registration.
