Castaic Lake Water Agency (CLWA) in Calfornia, US, has selected Innovyze’s SCADAWatch software solution to drive real time operational performance monitoring and reporting.

CLWA is a public water wholesaler in Santa Clarita Valley, which receives imported water from northern California and Kern County through California Aqueduct.

It has three large treatment plants, three major pump stations and water storage facilities. Its transmission pipelines extend over a range of 45 miles and delivers water to four water retailers.

Innovyze's solution will support mission-critical network modelling applications, supplement system performance monitoring in real time, gain insight and drive operational enhancements.

The software system can also offer real-time business intelligence and can instantly determine the level of water, usage of water and energy and can monitor a range of activities including uptime to analytics.

With the software system, users can access timely information through data consolidation from several platforms. The system can allow several employees to pull out valuable information onto any desktop.

The software system allows a faster flow of information which is analytically optimised and actionable. It enables users to create, view and analyse reports on a real time, information-rich dashboard.

With these dashboards, users can monitor everything from uptime to analytics, obtain asset performance report for historical comparison, access timely information to take better decisions, share important information across all water utility functions and departments, give quick response to important events and identify opportunities that can propel operational efficiencies.

Innovyze president, chief operations officer and chief innovation officer Paul Boulos said “By choosing SCADAWatch, the state of the art in our industry, CLWA has demonstrated its commitment to leveraging cutting edge technology to best serve its customers.

“The software provides CLWA with an actionable “intelligence X-ray” that helps them continuously monitor their water systems’ vital signs, spot patterns and deficiencies, act quickly and proactively, plan ahead, optimize operations and water management strategies, and improve efficiency measures and customer service."

CLWA Principal Engineer Jason Yim said: “SCADAWatch consolidates operational system distribution data on a single comprehensive dashboard, giving us faster real-time visualization of our water system performance.

“It allows us to receive real-time warnings of network performance problems; gauge loss of system hydraulics, water quality and physical integrity; spot other operational conditions; understand the impact of various actions; and gain insight and drive operational improvements.”
