UK-based energy giant BP's US convenience retail business unit has announced that 78 of its Chicago-area retail stores are up for sale, according to Petrol World.

Petrol World reported that, of the sites put up for sale, 65 are available for franchise, three are available as de-branded sites, 10 as BP dealer sites and four for multiple use. The franchise units will be reportedly developed as ampm stores offering BP-branded gasoline.

The sale is part of BP’s plan to sell its company-owned and operated retail sites in the US to franchisees and dealers. The sale is also said to be in line with BP’s aspirations to expand the ampm brand, according to Petrol World.
