The gas delivery was temporarily suspended for five days after an explosion was reported in the Turkish section of the South Caucasus gas pipeline.

However, the production at the Shah Deniz gas field was not affected by the explosion and it continued to produce about 22 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Azerbaijan State Oil Company president Rovneq Abdullayev said, "In the event that Turkey can not take gas, Azerbaijan pumps it into underground storage facilities."

In the last few years Eastern Turkey has witnessed Kurdish insurgency and regular pipeline explosions, reports Azeri news agency Trend.
