Blue Sphere has received two letters of endorsement from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Ghana, which serves as the Designated National Authority of Ghana under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol.
The letters of endorsement are for the Oti Sanitary landfill project in Kumasi and the Oblogo/Mallam landfill project in Accra.
Each of these projects will entail the installation of a gas collection system and flare to capture and destroy methane gas currently being emitted from the landfills.
Blue Sphere CEO Shlomi Palas said that the company will now commence the next step in the registration process including another site visit, further testing, and preparation of the project design document in the coming weeks.
