Canada based BioteQ Environmental Technologies has received a contract to review and commission a plant at the Maricunga Mine in Chile.

BioteQ will perform an engineering and operations review focused on the plant start-up including safety and environmental performance among others.

The plant will use the sulphidization-acidification-recycle-thickening process (SART) which will enable it to improve the environmental footprint for copper-gold deposits.

The SART process will also increase resource recovery and reduce operating costs.

Financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed, reports The Canadian Press.

The mine is operated by a subsidiary of Kinross Gold.

BioteQ develops water treatment technology to recover dissolved metals and remove sulphate from water produced in mining, energy and industrial activities.
