Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Republic of Yemen to establish solar photovoltaic (PV) based power plants at different locations in the Arab country.

BHEL is currently executing a 400MW gas turbine based power plant, Marib Phase-II, in Yemen.

The company said establishing solar PV plants in Yemen is a step in reinforcing its commitment to provide green power solutions in particular and the Yemeni Power Sector in general.

BHEL is engaged in the design, engineering, manufacture, construction, testing, commissioning and servicing of a range of products and services for power transmission, renewable energy, oil & gas and defence sectors.

The company’s cumulative overseas installed capacity of its manufactured power plants exceeds 9,000MW across 21 countries including Malaysia, Oman, Iraq, the UAE, Bhutan, Egypt and New Zealand.
