Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Republic of Yemen have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing renewable energy projects in the country.

As part of the MoU, the company will set up solar PV based power plants at different locations in Yemen.

Presently, BHEL is executing a 400MW gas turbine based power plant, Marib Phase-II, in Yemen.

THe company claims that setting up solar PV plants in Yemen is a step in reinforcing its commitment to providing green power solutions in particular and the Yemeni Power Sector in general.

The MoU was signed in a ceremony in New Delhi by B. Prasada Rao, chairman & managing director of BHEL and H.E. Saleh Hassan Sumie, the Minister of Electricity & Energy, Republic of Yemen.
