The ONGC Thermal Power (OTPC)-owned power plant is located at Palatana in Udaipur district of Tripura, around 50km from Agartala.

The power plant features two modules of 363.3MW each, equipped with fuel efficient advanced class Frame 9FA gas turbines.

BHEL was selected for setting up the CCPP on engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) basis, against international competitive bidding (ICB).

With the commissioning of the second module, BHEL has till now commissioned nine modules of Frame 9FA gas turbines in the combined cycle mode, in the entire country.

The first module of the Palatana power plant was commissioned by BHEL in January 2013.

BHEL has so far commissioned 911MW of gas-based and hydro sets in Tripura.

Earlier, the company had launched 14 gas turbines of smaller rating up to 21MW in Tripura. The size of the turbines had to be limited due to logistic constraint.

Separately, BHEL is also implementing a gas-based project of 100MW for NEEPCO at Monarchak in Tripura.
