power plants

The 778MW Stonewall Energy project will feature advanced emissions-control technology and is expected to be one of the cleanest and most efficient plants in the nation.

Under the contract, Siemens will deliver the power island equipment, including two SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST6-5000 steam turbine with an SCon-4000 condenser and two SGen6-1000A generators.

Siemens will also supply one SGen6-2000H generator and two NEM duct-fired heat recovery steam generators along with the complete electrical system and SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control system.

Bechtel will be responsible for the engineering and procurement for the balance of the plant as well as for the installation, construction and commissioning of the facility.

Panda Power Funds president and senior partner Todd Carter said: "This is an advanced facility designed to be environmentally friendly while producing power for one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S."

The natural-gas-fired CCPP is expected to supply power for up to 778,000 households in Virginia.

Scheduled to be commissioned in spring 2017, the Stonewall CCPP will create approximately 30 long-term jobs in addition to 600 jobs during construction.

Siemens will manufacture gas turbines, steam turbines and generators at its factory in Charlotte, North Carolina.
