Contract
The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has terminated its contract with the Malaysian company Westmont for the installation of a 100 MWe power barge at Baghabari. The termination letter was issued four days after the expiry of the contract between BPDB and Westmont. BPDB said that it terminated the contract as the company had failed to install the plant within the required time frame.
Westmont was due to install the plant by September 10; it applied for and received a 60 day extension, to November 10. Westmont is currently applying for a further extension to January 1999.
