Bangladesh Petroleum is facing fuel shortages after its supplier, IndianOil, reneged on its commitment to export 120,000 tons of fuel due to increased demand in India, according to a report by PetrolWorld.

PetrolWorld reported that under Bangladesh Petroleum’s (BPC) contract with IndianOil, the first consignment of 10,000 tons of diesel was scheduled for delivery in March 2008.

The news source noted BPC’s director for operations as saying that IndianOil has communicated with the company that it will not be able to export fuel to Bangladesh as the company itself is importing fuel to meet soaring demand in India.
