Technology research firm Applied Seismic Research has announced that a west Texas well operator has completed a three-year study proving that its Hydro-Impact technology has significantly reduced the historical decline of oil production in its Permian Basin wells by at least 20%.

Applied Seismic Research (ASR) said that its technology can shake loose more oil out of existing oil-producing fields.

The firm claims that if the US applied this tool to its existing fields, the result could reduce the nation’s dependency on foreign oil.

ASR noted that only two of its Hydro-Impact tools were used to stimulate all 90 wells in the study. ASR’s tool reportedly accomplishes this by sending out huge shockwaves, continuously, over a large area covering hundreds of acres.
