Fluor Daniel Pacific has been selected by Shell Philippines Exploration (SPEX) to design and provide support for the Malampaya phase three project that comprises Malampaya Depletion Compression Platform.
To complete the substructure detailed design and also provide procurement support on substructure related matters, Fluor appointed Arup as a subcontractor.
The new facility, which is expected to increase the natural gas source of Philippines, is scheduled for completion in 2014.
SPEX engineering manager Martyn Turner said that Arup’s experience implementing similar self-installing platform designs allowed for the rapid development of an efficient design.
"The firm’s ability to mobilize an established local engineering team from its Manila office reduced the in-country engineering execution risk and allowed us to come in ahead of schedule and within budget," Turner added.
