Arcadis Logos as part of a consortium has signed a $146m contract with Norte Energia to provide owner´s engineering services for the Belo Monte hydroelectric project located on the Xingu River in Pará, Brazil.

The company holds a 35% participation interest in the consortium and will receive $51m of the contract amount.

The consortium includes consulting engineering companies, Themag, Concremat and Engecorps which will be responsible for design certification, construction management and supervision, planning coordination, expediting and commissioning activities.

The project will require a total investment of $15bn for civil works, equipment and environmental compensations.

Upon operational, the plant will have 11,200MW of installed capacity in renewable energy is expected to be completed by second half of 2013.
