The SEP Program, which aims to provide industrial plants with a road map for achieving improvement in energy efficiency while maintaining competitiveness, require a third-party certification body to assess the conformance of a manufacturing facility to the SEP requirements for energy intensity improvement.
The ANSI accreditation means that Kema will now get at attestation from the US Council on Energy-Efficient Manufacturing (US CEEM), a guiding body for this program, for its competence and qualification to perform its activities.
Under this program, Kema will also receive ISO 14065:2007 accreditation, which specifies the requirements for organizations that validate or verify GHG emission assertions or claims.
Further, Kema will be authorized to certify plants for energy efficiency and validate plant performance through the measurement and verification (M&V) protocol.
ANSI vice president of accreditation services Lane Hallenbeck said that accreditation under ANSI’s program for Superior Energy Performance attests that Kema is competent and capable to assess compliance with standards specifying continued improvement and efficiency in energy use.
“ANSI congratulates Kema for achieving accreditation in the vanguard of this new initiative,” Hallenbeck said.
