Australia-based AMP Capital plans to invest $100m in Capistrano Wind Partners to develop, own and operate a diversified portfolio of large-scale wind energy projects in North America.

This investment will support the growth of the wind energy project portfolio in the region.

AMP Capital Europe and North America Infrastructure head Boe Pahari said that North America is a key area of growth for the company’s infrastructure business.

"The investment in Capistrano Wind Partners will provide our investors with additional geographical diversification and exposure to a portfolio of high-quality wind projects.

"The investment is consistent with our focus on investing in high quality assets across the energy/power, transport and social infrastructure sectors in North America," added Pahari.

AMP Capital is investing in-cooperation with the consortium of infrastructure investors.

Currently, Capistrano Wind Partners owns five operating projects in Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming, with a total operating capacity of 413MW.
